Love in a line
Heart-shaped rocks on a mantle,
love in a line, collected,
in various colors, odd sizes,
with edges sharp, smooth,
none a perfect rendition,
none abiding strict rules
for curve, apex, intersection.
Some are spotted,
others unblemished, virginal.
All collect the dust of time.
All inconvenience him.
To her, they call up hope,
sweet remembering.
